The Best Strawberry Smoothie Recipe

I’m a Southern gal and that means I’m polite (mostly).

I will politely (mostly) decline ice in my smoothies, strawberry or otherwise.

The best Strawberry Smoothie recipes do not require ice!

Strawberry Smoothie

Ice is reserved for a Coconut Slush, a rainbow snow cone, or as rocks in my whiskey.

Ice in a smoothie?

Oh, mah dear, no thank you!

Yes, I know if you’re not drinking enough water, you’re thinking this is a perfect way to get more.

Um, here’s a tip: DRINK MORE WATER!

Why not add ice to your strawberry smoothie?

I think water in smoothies dilutes the taste of, well, all the deliciousness you took the time to put in your smoothie.

If you’re thinking Hey, OMT! there’s NO WAY I can make a delicious strawberry smoothie without ice, you’d be wrong.

Come on.

I’m gonna show you how to make an incredibly healthy (spiked or not – your choice) strawberry smoothie without using nary a cube of ice.

Before we talk recipe, let’s talk a few other thangs, shall we?

WE SHALL!

I use organic strawberries that are frozen and sliced, with no juice added.

You can buy these anywhere.

Mine typically come from Costco, because we’re engaged.

Well, maybe not engaged, but I’d marry Costco if that was a thing.

Totally.

Using frozen fruit means no waste and they’re always there for you when you’re ready.

Like Costco.

Can you make this smoothie with other fruit?

Some of you may not be  strawberry fans – or maybe you are allergic.

I gotcha covered, baby.

This smoothie is adaptable and easy.

Garry prefers a mix of frozen blueberries, cherries and pineapple, when he isn’t having strawberry.

I am a one-fruit per smoothie enthusiast.

So, either blueberry or strawberry or, well, you get the idea.

Another question I get is…

How do I make a banana strawberry smoothie?

Simplest thang ever: throw a banana in it!

You can use fresh or frozen (but ALWAYS PEELED!).

Fresh bananas are the easiest to add.

Peel and plop into the blender!

Frozen bananas will help keep your smoothies icy cold and creamy.

It will be helpful if you use frozen banana slices (easier on the blender to chug through that fruit), which you can make by, wait for it: slicing bananas and freezing them!

The easy way to freeze banana slices:

One of the easiest ways to do that is to line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and put your slices on top of the paper.

Don’t put them in a pile or on top of one another.

A simple single layer is perfect.

Pop in the freezer until frozen, then place in a freezer proof container for later use.

Take what you need, put the rest back in the freezer.

Peel. Slice. Freeze.

Easy!

Make the smoothies you want!

Garry loves to add frozen banana in his strawberry smoothie.

Wait. Let me be more precise: Garry likes to add a frozen or fresh banana to any smoothie.

Me, not so much.

Garry prefers a consistency that is spoon-worthy, while I prefer mine to travel through a straw with just a hint of effort.

Like a decadent milkshake, without the milkshake calories!

Each fruit smoothie is different, delicious, and good for ya.

Which brings us to…

Is a strawberry smoothie healthy?

#1: Strawberries are packed with nutrition and antioxidants.

#2: You can sub out the whole milk for soy or almond if you prefer.

#3: You can ditch the sugar as long as the strawberries are sweet.

So, a resounding YES, is the answer to that question.

Strawberry smoothies for ever’one!

Ahem, the kiddies I mentioned above?

They will love them and never have to know they are good for them.

Need a fun activity for the kids? Freeze your smoothies!

Using frozen fruit to make a smoothie, but then freeze your creation?

Delicious mayhem!

Blend your favorite smoothie to a thick consistency, then fill Popsicle molds for a fun, frozen treat.

Sweet E can testify to the Popsicle fun. Been there, made that…eaten all of ’em!

One caveat: If Mommy has had a hard day and happens to slip enough booze to put her out for the night a teeny splash of vanilla rum into a batch to freeze, make sure they are labeled and that the children (most likely the reason mommy spiked her batch that she has no plans on sharing with daddy), can’t get their adorable tiny fingers on them.

Social services frowns upon tipsy children…from what I hear.

Last , but never ever least, a great smoothie deserves a proper straw.

I know you are wondering where I got the red Fatty McGee straw.

Ain’t she marvelous?

Half of the enjoyment of a delicious smoothie is the straw you use to drank it.

I’ve linked a couple of options below.

I do love a cold Strawberry Smoothie with a fat red straw!

~ I rarely find it necessary to add the sugar. Strawberries be sweet, yo!
